The Weekend by tbc women’s clothing store, which was closed during the pandemic, is expected to reopen in the coming weeks.
Weekend by tbc is preparing to reopen at Forum Mall in Roanoke County.
The Bird Cage Boutique Outlet store in Salem is expected to close when inventory runs out, but the flagship store at Forum Mall in Roanoke County remains open.
As a Roanoke Valley women’s clothing store prepares to close, another owned by the same owner that was closed during the pandemic will reopen.
Gwenda Kellett is the owner of The bird cage shop, which has its flagship store at Forum shopping center in Roanoke County and an outlet in Salem. The latter should be closed, once stocks are exhausted, she said.
At the same time, Kellett is preparing to reopen Weekend to be confirmed, also located at the Forum. The store has been closed since the early days of the pandemic, when much of its inventory was moved to The Bird Cage, which Kellett says has helped the company overcome supply chain disruptions. .
The space that previously housed Weekend by tbc has been revamped with new decor and amenities, Kellett said. It offers casual weekend wear, loungewear and jeans at low prices, as well as accessories. The store also added gift items, such as candles and soaps, to its offerings.
With the changes to Weekend by tbc, Kellett said it would look more like an expansion of The Bird Cage than a standalone store.
Ideally, Kellett said, she would have liked to have The Bird Cage Boutique and Weekend by tbc under one roof at the Forum, but the mall currently does not have large storefronts available that would allow her to do so.
