Announcing Maryland Day Events + New Annapolis Museum Opening
MARYLAND — Attractions across the state are planning weekend festivities to celebrate Maryland Day, which is this Friday. Residents can also soak up local history at a new museum in downtown Annapolis. An osprey festival and a canoe trip complete the upcoming offerings.

Maryland Day will be celebrated statewide the weekend of March 25-27, with free admission to state parks and events statewide. Friday, March 25 events include commemorating the founding of Maryland at the state’s birthplace in Saint-Clément Island Museumwith free admission to the museum all day, free water taxi rides, official ceremony with guest speakers and program, and more. Hancock’s resolution will offer a free virtual program in honor of James Spencer, founder of Freetown. More Maryland Day celebrations:
Pride of Baltimore at Annapolis: Pride II will be in Annapolis March 25-27 and will be open to the public for free deck tours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Annapolis Maritime Museum
Join the Annapolis Maritime Museum for Maryland Day on March 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to learn about the significant impact the oyster has on our local maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. Admission $1 for one day only. [Family-friendly] activities including an oyster shell craft and a small boat building kit to take home. Registration and more information.
Historic City and Gardens of London
London Town officially reopens on Maryland Day weekend. Enjoy free admission throughout the weekend plus hands-on activities, guided tours and more.
The B&O Railway Museum
On March 27, the B&O Railroad Museum will present Maryland on the Rails: The B&O’s Contribution to Maryland History public tour. The visit is included in regular admission.

Historic Annapolis, Inc. held the grand opening of the Museum of Historic Annapolis at its location at 99 Main Street on March 19. The museum unveiled its groundbreaking permanent exhibition, Annapolis: An American History. The new exhibit tells dramatic stories of Annapolis and its diverse residents – revolutionaries, visionaries, and champions in our nation’s ongoing quest for freedom and justice – who have helped shape our American history for more than 450 years. “Maryland Osprey Nature Festival
If you love birds and nature, or just want to learn more about wildlife, come to the inaugural Maryland Osprey Nature Festival in Lusby, MD. See live raptors up close, attend talks with wildlife experts from across the state, participate in bird watching, and enjoy nature in this idyllic location. This will be an event for the whole family and people of all ages. There will be live music throughout the day and the opportunity to purchase some of Southern Maryland’s favorite foods including pulled pork and pot roast. $10 per family, $5 for individuals. “Paddling the Tuckahoe
Looking for an opportunity to get in the water for the first time this spring? Join Pickering Creek Audubon for a canoe trip on the Tuckahoe, from the mill pond upstream through an open marsh and forested wetland, with a chance to see herons, owls, beavers, wood ducks and turtles.
