Derbion jobs available now, including key Birds Bakery role
A key role at Birds Bakery is among seven jobs currently available at Derby’s biggest shopping centre. A wide range of retail positions are available for those wishing to work at Derbion.
The famous Derby-founded bakery chain is looking to recruit a new assistant manager to work at its ground floor outlet which was given a facelift in January 2020. The former express service kiosk, located opposite Bodycare , has been transformed into a larger store that now has a café-style seating area.
Those interested in applying for the full-time, 40-hour-per-week position should have two to five years of industry experience. Outlining the responsibilities that will fall to the successful candidate, a Birds spokesperson said: “You will support the Store Manager in all operational aspects of running the store.

“You will ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service. Issues should be dealt with as they arise rather than escalating to the manager.” Applications for this position must be made online on the Birds site before the closing date which has been set for Thursday 30 June.
Other retailers currently recruiting include formal menswear store Moss Bros, shoe store Skechers and chocolate maker Hotel Chocolat which is also looking for a new assistant manager for its store.

Hôtel Chocolat – assistant store manager
The chocolatier is looking for a “confident, business-minded leader” to work 40 hours a week as assistant manager of its Derbion store. Describing the qualities that potential candidates should possess, a Hotel Chocolat spokesperson said: “Our managers are strong business leaders who can inspire, coach and develop their team members to drive sales and deliver 100% of happiness to all our customers”.
Those interested in applying for this role should bring a CV with cover letter to the store, or alternatively apply online here, as soon as possible before the closing date which is tomorrow, Sunday 19th June.
Frozen Kiosks – Retail Assistant
This kiosk, which serves frozen drinks including Tango Ice Blast, Fanta Frozen and Coca-Cola, opened at the city’s mall in March. She is now looking for a new part-time employee to work between 10 and 20 hours per week.
A Frozen Kiosks spokesperson said, “We are looking for a passionate and friendly individual to join our team urgently. In return for your excellence, we will offer you great pay rates and a great work environment.”
No experience is necessary to apply for this role, just bring your CV and cover letter to the booth before the closing date of Friday June 24th.
Warren James – sales consultant
This full-time role became available to work 40 hours per week at the jewellers. The company seeks to speak to potential candidates who are “passionate and enthusiastic about customers and sales”, but knowledge of jewelry is not essential, nor is any experience in the industry.

Enchanted Rose – customer service advisor
The bosses of the florist’s kiosk, located near Starbucks and the Build-A-Bear shop on the ground floor, want to bring in a new full-time customer service representative. The 37.5 hour per week role is available to anyone who does not have any experience necessary to apply for the job, which will include weekend work.
Describing what the role will entail, a spokesperson for Enchanted Rose said: “The role will consist of serving customers, answering phones and taking orders, setting up and closing the kiosk and taking care of the flowers. and plants for sale in the store. We will provide all plant care training.”
Those interested in applying should deliver their CV and cover letter to a staff member at the booth, which opened in February 2020. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, June 28.

Skechers – seasonal vendor
The tier 1 shoe brand is looking to recruit a seasonal salesperson who would work part-time. Those interested in applying for this position can do so online here before the July 11 closing date.
Moss Bros – weekend sales consultant
The successful candidate for this weekend-only position will work 12 hours per week in the men’s clothing store. Describing the job, a Moss Bros spokesperson said it was a “permanent position dealing with retail, formal hire for special occasions and our Tailor Me bespoke suit offering. “.
No experience is necessary to apply for this role, just bring your resume and cover letter to the store before the July 17 closing date.

In other Derbion news, construction work has now begun to have Frasers’ highly anticipated new store ready to open before Christmas. The department store will occupy the largest unit in the city’s shopping center previously occupied by Debenhams for over a decade before it closed in Maylast year, much to the chagrin of many buyers.

Women’s fashion accessories store Start and Tremayne opened on Level 1 at the end of last month. Toy store Toy Planet opened its new store on Level 1 in late April, which is twice the size of its old outlet on the same floor.
Major British fashion retailer River Island will acquire a larger unit on Tier 2 in July, allowing the brand to offer a greater variety of clothing for women, men and children. Spanning 11,000 square feet, the new outlet will be more than 30% larger than its previous store on the same floor, which closed Friday, May 20 to accommodate the move.
British retail giant Next will invest “significant investment” in its store as a revamp begins in June, with improvements due to be completed by mid-August. The store will continue to trade during the renovation and will have a new entrance as well as improved interior features and lighting once it is complete.
