JACKSON, MI — Libby and Buck-O are just two of many animals at the Cascades Humane Society who are looking for forever homes.
Libby is an older girl at 9 years old. She is a Dachshund mix and has adorable dappled white and black markings.
Unfortunately, her owner has just died and the family could not take care of her. Libby can be a bit shy at first, but once you spend a few minutes with her, she warms up and starts showing it by wagging her tail. Then she will seek you out more, lean on you, and even give you kisses.
Libby isn’t a big fan of treats here, but she loves squeaky toys. Libby was spayed, microchipped and updated on vaccines. She has heartworm, but CHS is treating her for it. Come meet this sweet elderly lady today.
Buck-O has an unusual name, but his story is unfortunately not unusual – his owner fell ill and could no longer take care of him.
At 14, you’d think he would have a hard time adjusting to the environment at the shelter, but he did just fine. He is very sweet and friendly. He loves looking out the window and watching birds.
Buck-O loves to rub his ears and head and will seek out sunny places to nap. He was neutered, updated on all his necessary vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, is open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
All Cascades Humane Society dogs and cats have been spayed or spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and protected against parasites prior to adoption. Those who adopt pets also receive a free health check from one of 24 area veterinarians.
Dog owners wishing to adopt another dog are required to meet their dog and the dog they choose to adopt.
CHS has also added services to its Sterilization and Sterilization Assistance Program. The service, available during scheduled spaying or neutering surgeries, includes vaccinations, heartworm testing for dogs, FIV and FeLV testing for cats, and dental procedures.
CHS also has a Pet Food Pantry to help families going through financial hardship. The CHS accepts donations of cat or dog food, provided the food is in its original packaging. Donors can drop off food near the barn behind the facility. The Pet Food Pantry is open from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.
