The most popular Instagram trends that kept us busy in 2021

Over 50% of the world’s population uses social networks. In this, an average person spends around 2 hours and 25 minutes on social media every day. According to a CNBC report, Instagram employees agree that the app has more than 2 billion monthly active users worldwide.

Since launching in 2010, Instagram has managed to successfully follow millions of people – Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, and Godspeed, Beyond Age around the world.

From posts and stories to reels, IGTV and DMs, that “ping” is the one everyone has activated in phones.

Let’s go back and get to the good part! The Instagram trends that defined 2021!

1. Catch my face

Well you’ve got a face. You know where all the parts of your face are. Then in this trend all you need to do is grab your face well. This challenge is not that difficult, which makes it one of the most popular. When your eyes, nose and mouth are floating, blink and you’re done! Your face – with a lot of likes.

2. Flashes at 4.000

Is it too hard to blink? All the Igers have tried to follow this trend, oh, and trust me, they didn’t do it easily. As soon as the countdown starts from 0.000, be on your toes! Missing the 4000 mark by a few seconds can be frustrating, right, but we’ve been tested by what not this year, so why not give it another try?

3. Applaud with FRIENDS

Whether you are a FRIENDS fan or not, this challenge is a real pleasure with friends! You may know the words to “I’ll be there for you”, but it’s not about the words; this is the clap! After “So nobody told you that life was going to be like this”, clap, clap, clap! Sync at the right time, and voila. PS. don’t forget to listen with your gang to the rest of “I’ll be there for you… ..When the rain starts to fall… I’ll be…”

4. Don’t fall for the challenge

Who doesn’t face a challenge in life, right? But we all have a choice to stand up and show courage. This challenge shattered some stereotypes like women’s choice to have children, clothing beyond gender stereotypes, body positivity, mental health, among others. If you want to shatter a misconception, use the hashtag # Don’tFallChallenge.

5. #BongoChaChaChaCha

Based on the retro song “Bongo Cha Cha Cha” by Catarina Valenta, there are many fun variations of this funky tune. People have created reality-expectation videos where they sway with the song while showing something they’re supposed to be doing. As the song ‘Bongo Cha Cha Cha’ goes on, they continue to show what they are actually doing in real life. Other variations include the waltz on the song with his friends, adding the Otra Boca – the fun lip-syncing filter to anything and anyone from the sleeping brother to the cute animal. This song was indeed an IG favorite of the year!

6. iPhone wallpaper

Tired after all the movements? Well, then that tendency was to stay still. Until the “aa… aa” of the song “Banna Re” by Chitralekha Sen and DJ Shadow Dubai, hold your breath and don’t move your limbs. As soon as the rhythm is high, dance. With over 2.1 million reels featuring this song, make sure you have a good watch while scrolling through the reels as sometimes the video can just be a photo!

7. Bachpan Ka Pyaar

The video of a child standing in a classroom wearing a blue shirt chanting “Bachpan Ka Pyaar” with a straight face has been looping social media. The boy prodigy who won many hearts is Sahdev Dirdo from Chhattisgarh. Soon after the video went viral, Instagrammers created many versions of “Bachpan Ka Pyaar”. From celebrities like Surbhi Chandna, Bharti Singh to influencers, everyone has followed the trend.

Later Badshah wrote the new version of the original music by Mayur Nadiya, with Sahdev Dirdo with Aastha Gill and Rico, composed by Hiten.

8. Show us your name in the urban dictionary

Do you know the meaning of your name? Have you checked it in the urban dictionary? If you haven’t been part of this trend yet, hurry up! This trend caused everyone to display their name in the urban dictionary using the ‘Add Yours’ sticker feature in Insta. Urban Dictionary is an online crowdsourced dictionary for GenZ slangs and phrases. Some meanings were flattering, while others, the less good ones, were shared with humor.

9. Photo crop challenge

If you’re with your clique, this is one of the best IG trends. Try to squeeze through the bouncing cropped frame and make sure your face is in the box when the time is up! This challenge is full of energy and is hilarious as the creators scurry across the room trying to fit into the box. Although it is only a box, this filter is not as simple as its four lines.
